Tiny Cabin Glamping Near Atlanta: Getaway House Adventure!
Glamping - a form of camping involving accommodation and facilities more luxurious than those associated with traditional camping.
Back in 2019, I went camping for the first time with my family, and let me tell you, I do not have the skills for scouting the best area, pitching a tent, finding wood to build a fire - should I go on? I feel like we might end up down a rabbit with that story.
I was a photo of the view about on social media and was immediately, "OMG where is that? And I need to see this view for myself!" and like true social media fashion, I kept on seeing the ads everywhere. I naturally had to find out about them online. The Getaway House mission believes in free time which helps to create a space for individuals to unplug and reconnect doing so in the natural environments helps cater to the our well-beings, productivity, and overall happiness. In their mission statement, they state:
Our Outposts are designed to be more than a destination, but a way to create distance from the relentless demands of work, schedules, and technology. We want our guests to experience unscheduled, unstructured, and uninterrupted free time — not just for rest and rejuvenation, but to foster inspiration, creativity, and connection.
When a company's value places such high emphasis on their guests well-being, it's a yes for me! The Getaway House has locations all over the US: West, Southwest, Midwest, Southeast, and Northeast. Their outposts are located within 2 hours from the major cities listed on their website, and generally nestled away in nature. You can fly into a particular destination and drive to the location. I recommend a rental, instead of trying to Uber from the airport to the location. However, if you reside close to a location in your home area, road trips are another great way to kick off the adventure.
Each property has around 40-55 cabins on location, but the each campsite has it own privacy so that you are not disturbed by other campers. Each campsite has a fire pit, camp fire kit, picnic table and a tiny cabin. You can select a cabin with 1 or 2 besides and holds a maximum of 4 people. The tiny cabins come fully equipped - AC & heater, running water, queen bed or bunks, mini fridge, 2-burner stove. It also has all your kitchen needs, pots, pans, plates, cups, bowls, utensils, can opener, scissors, lighter, & wine opener. They also provide some kitchen essentials like salt, pepper, sugar, olive oil, creamers - coffee, tea, hot chocolate and few other items are also available, but those have a small fee ranging from $1 - $8 dollars. If those items are used, they send a invoice after your stay. Personally, I always make a supermarket run before getting to the cabin to stock up on grocery items. If you opt out of cooking during your stay, there are towns close by that you can always pop in town for a bite.
For a tiny cabin, the space inside does not feel that way especially with the views from the main window by the bed. The views from the early morning to late night with the stars are breathtaking! The bed is spacious and comfortable - great for cozying up with a good book, watching a movie, or taking a solid nap. The cabin does have books, games, and a radio with Bluetooth for entertainment purposes. A mini projector to screen movies would be a great idea. Your outside space has plenty of room for entertaining or just sit by the campfire and enjoy nature.
Ok, the big question: "What is the bathroom situation?" - no worries, the Getaway House got you covered. You will not have to use an out house! The cabins do come with a bathroom - toilet, shower, towels, shampoo, condition, and body wash. And ladies, there is even an mini emergency kit with feminine products in case that time of month happens.
My first Getaway House experience was the Coosa River location, which listed under Atlanta (ATL). Coosa River is located in Alabama; and it's about 2 hrs. & 20 mins from ATL. Since I reside in South Florida, so I drove to the outpost. It was about 10.5 hours. I enjoyed the beautiful scenic roads on my drive there, once I turned off the busy interstate highways. The Coosa River outpost a nature trail that runs along the river, you have the chance for some water views. It is perfect for leisure stroll, walk, or run. Bring your rain boots in case needed and don't do like me who wore white sneakers out after it rained. There are a few close by attractions you can visit such as the Beeswax Large Mouth Loop, Old Mountain Brewing Company, and Pizza & Pint.
I highly recommend booking a Getaway House experience in Coosa River - I would give it a 10/10! It's perfect for solo travelers, families, friends, couples, dog families. Check out their FAQ section on their website. They cover a lot of questions and concerns which was very helpful in my initial search about them. They offer discounts for military, veterans, first responders, healthcare professionals, and students. There is also discount for frequent visitors with their Getaway Often Packs. You can also save $25 off your first stay when you book.
I am excited to hear about your Getaway - would you book this experience?
