Discover the Best Water Tour Activity in Cartagena Colombia with Five Islands of Rosario
"Hola, ¿cómo estás?”
One of my favorite city to visit is Cartagena, which is a port city on the Colombian Caribbean coast. Cartagena has lots of beaches, numerous beautiful colonial architectures, buzzing nightlife spots, great restaurants, and a historic old town (that is entirely walkable - just make sure to wear comfy shoes).
Since Cartagena is located by the Caribbean Sea, I highly recommend doing water tours or excursions. The crystalline blue waters off the coast of the city are mesmerizing and captivating - you will definitely want to spend all day sea or on the beaches on their nearby Rosario Islands.
I discovered this tour through Airbnb under their experiences section. The rating and reviews are highly recommended; and I like doing tours where I get the most bang-for-my-buck (let's keep it real)!!
Three of the biggest perks for me booking this tour: 1. multiply destination visits, 2. hotel pick/drop off, and 3. lunch & beverage included.
Here are the 5 islands:
Bocachica
Isla Grande
Private island for lunch
Isla Cholon
Plankton Island
In addition to the beautiful sight-seeing along the ride, you can relax and chill at all the islands; some do have activities you can participate in like snorkeling, jet skiing, or tubing.
Recommendation - if you are prone to getting seasick like myself, stock up on Dramamine and take it at least 2 hours minimum before departing port to give it time to be effective. When the tide is high, it was choppy coming back in so at least be prepared.
Items to bring along:
Sunblock - it's the Caribbean, you will need protection from the sun.
Water Shoes - some of the beaches have rocks by the water entrance.
Waterproof Bag/Backpack - you will on & in the water, it's only wise.
Waterproof Phone Pouch - again, you will be on and in the water, this will save your phone.
Towels - bring your own.
Snacks - complimentary water and beer are provided on the boat, if you will get hungry, pack some snacks.
Tip Money - recommended for the boat crew and food staff.
